Obituary of Arlene Rogers
Arlene L. Rogers, 82, of Sayre, PA passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Robert Packer Hospital with her family by her side following an extended illness.
She was born on March 25, 1932 in Sayre, PA the daughter of the late Claude and Anna Louise Smith Johnson.
Arlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her favorite past-time was spending time with and being surrounded by family. She was a devout Christian and an Ambassador for Christ. She was a lifetime member of the First Church of God in Sayre. Prior to her passing, Gilbert and Arlene celebrated their 62nd anniversary in March. Arlene enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, crocheting, and sewing. One of Arlene’s favorite things to do with her husband was travelling, especially to the Lancaster area. Arlene was loved and will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is predeceased by her brother Earl Eugene Johnson.
Arlene is survived by her husband of 62 years, Gilbert E. Rogers at home, children Steven and Robbin Rogers of Waverly, NY, Connie and David Webster of Sayre, PA, and John and Aida Rogers of Palm Harbor, FL, grandchildren Steven Rogers, Jr. of Sayre, PA, Chelsea, Lucas, and Courtney Webster of Sayre, PA, Jeremiah and Sara Rogers of Sayre, PA, and Bulat and Marat Biyarslanov-Rogers, of Palm Harbor, FL, great-grandchildren John, Kylee, Kohen, and Tristen, brother and sister-in-law Donald and Donna Johnson of Sayre, PA, sister-in-law Joyce Johnson of Newport Ritchie, FL, and several special sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
At Arlene’s request, the family will be honoring her memory at a Private Gathering. There will be no calling hours or services. The family is being assisted by the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.
