Nina was born on October 7, 1927 in Corona (Queens), N.Y., the daughter of Joseph and Josephine Borgese. After attending High School, Nina went on to attend Drew University in Maddison, N.J., earning a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology.
She began her professional career doing cancer research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City before accepting a position with Sterling-Winthrop Research Institute in Rensselaer, N.Y. In February 1961, she married her husband Richard and was a stay-at-home mom and foster mother raising her two sons until they were teenagers. She then went to work at the Food and Drug Research Laboratory in Waverly, N.Y., and then the Troy Hospital in Troy, Pa. After her retirement she worked part time at the Evening Times (Morning Times) in Sayre, Pa. and at St. Joseph's Hospital In Elmira, N.Y.

The family would like to thank all those whom gave her comfort throughout her illnesses. She died at peace, her faith never wavering, from complications of pneumonia.
