Betty M. Knouse, 87, formerly of Sayre, PA passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Rockhill Mennonite Community in Sellersville, PA. She was born on March 26, 1927 in Rummerfield, PA, the daughter of the late Charles H. and Letha VanKuren Lehman. Betty was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Betty graduated from Sayre High School’s Class of 1944 and graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1948 as a Registered Nurse. She was employed with the Tioga General Hospital in Waverly, NY as a Registered Nurse, retiring in 1982. She enjoyed baking and sewing, but after their retirement Betty and Jack spent much their time traveling. She is predeceased by her husband of 61 years Jack B. Knouse on June 2, 2014, sister Lois Cole, and brother Frederick “Ted” Lehman. Betty is survived by her children Jan and David Kolesar of Brookline, NH and John and Maureen Knouse of Perkasie, PA, grandchildren Hannah and Ross Kolesar and Ryan, Allison, and Brendan Knouse, brother George Lehman of Standing Stone, PA, and sister Janet Knouse of Dover, DE. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 7, 2014 at 10am at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA with the Rev. Alexandria Liepe officiating. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA. Memorial donations may be made in Betty’s memory to: St. John’s Lutheran Church, 207 N.
