Dorothy Mason Leonard, of Athens, PA passed away Thursday, July 17, 2014 at home. Born August 11, 1919 in Towanda the daughter of the late Harry and Catherine Platt Layton. Dorothy was a graduate of Towanda High School Class of 1937. She was a member and past President and Secretary for 19 years of the Skiff Bower Post 1536 VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Dorothy was a big fan of NASCAR. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is predeceased by her first husband George Emmet Mason in 1978 and her second husband Walter Leonard in 1987, and her daughter Joan Halstead. She is survived by daughter Patricia and Chester VanDuzer, Jr. of Sayre, PA; 5 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. At Dorothy’s request there will be no visitation or services. Burial will be in the Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA. Funeral Arrangements are in the care of the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremations Services, Inc.
