Obituary of Ellsworth Fred Andrus
Fred Ellsworth Andrus, 98, of East Smithfield, PA, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2014 at home.
He was born on May 28, 1916 at home in East Smithfield Twp., PA, the son of the late Fred and Mildred Clark Andrus.
Ellsworth owned and operated the family dairy farm in the East Smithfield area. He was a lifetime member of the East Smithfield Federated Church. Ellsworth made and sold his own Maple Syrup. He loved spending time in his gardens, both his flower and vegetable garden, and sharing the products of those gardens with his neighbors and friends. He enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles. He was a member of the East Smithfield Grange and traveled on many occasions for the grange statewide.
He is predeceased by his wife Eleanor P. Andrus on August 8, 2007, sister and brother-in-law Helen and Fred Hoose, and brother and sister-in-law Henry and Jennie Andrus.
Ellsworth is survived by his children James and Patricia Andrus of Florence, NJ, Douglas and Linda Andrus of Northampton, PA, Harold Andrus of East Smithfield, PA, and JoAnn Andrus of Sayre, PA, 3 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and his niece and nephew.
Friends and family may call on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 from 12p – 2p at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at the funeral home at 2pm with the Rev. Stan Gill officiating.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery, East Smithfield, PA.
