Nancy L. Russell, 80, of Waverly, NY went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at ElderWood at Tioga following an extended illness. She was born May 28, 1931 in Binghamton, NY to the late Charles and Geraldine Brown Gaige. Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Athens Wesleyan Church, and served as Den Mother with the Cub Scouts for many years, receiving numerous Cub Scout Awards during that time. She is predeceased by her sister Norma Degraw. Nancy is survived by her husband of 63 years Walter at home, children James and Estelita Russell of Port Richey, FL, Kathleen and John Dutton of Waverly, NY, and David and Terry Russell of Sayre, PA, 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, sisters Esther Roe of Hallstead, PA, Doris Henry of Hallstead, PA, Linda Gaige of Johnson City, NY, Dorothy Gardener of Johnson City, NY, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family may call on Saturday, January 21, 2012 from 10am – 11am at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at the Funeral Home at 11am with Rev. Randy Stilson officiating. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Hallstead, PA.
