Carol S. Reed of Athens Twp., PA passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2014 following an extended battle with cancer at her home in Athens, PA. Carol was born on November 15, 1954 in Sayre, PA the daughter of the late Merle and mary E. McNeal Tolbert. Carol was married to John Reed of Athens, PA for 26 years. She was a graduate of Athens High School in 1972 and a member of the Trinity Church in Athens. Carol was employed at the Robert Packer Hospital from 1975-2014 and was most recently employed in the Cath Lab. She was a Lifetime member of the Sayre/Athens Lions Club, was the recipient of the Lioness of the Year in 2013, and also served as President of the Board as well as all other positions on the board at one time or another. She was a member of the Melodears, an all-girl drum corps and played the baritone. She also enjoyed camping at the Campbell Campgrounds with her family and friends. Carol cherished her long haired Pomeranian, Ellie Mae that was by her side throughout her long battle with cancer. Carol is predeceased by her father Merle Tolbert, mother Mary E. Tolbert, sister Eileen Tolbert, and brother James Tolbert. Carol is survived by her husband John Reed, daughter Brett R. Tolbert, brother and sister-in-law Lynn Tolbert, 4 nieces and nephews and 3 great nieces and nephews. Friends and family may call on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 from 4pm – 7pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremations Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Memorial Service will be held on September 3, 2014 at the Church of the Redeemer, 207 S. Wilbur Avenue, Sayre, PA at 12:00pm with the Rev. Ben Lentz, Rev. Trula Hollywood, and Rev. Glen Mahaffey. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, Pa at the convenience of the family.
