John Funk, 45, of Athens, PA passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at home following a brief illness. He was born on July 16, 1969 in Philadelphia, PA the son of Edward W. and Mary H. Hadlock Funk, Jr. John was an avid sports fan, following closely his hometown teams of the Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Flyers, and the Philadelphia Phillies. He enjoyed playing darts and shooing pool. John attended Haverford High School. He is predeceased by his father Edward W. Funk, Jr. John is survived by his daughter Amanda Miller, son John Miller, mother Mary Funk, brothers Rick Funk, Edward Funk III, sister Kathy McHugh, sister and brother-in-law Karen and Mark Herms, sister Rachel Funk, numerous aunts and uncles, and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call on Sunday, August 31, 2014 from 6pm - 8pm at the Salvation Army Church, 314 S. Elmer Ave., Sayre, PA. A memorial service will be held at 6pm at the church. The family is being assisted by Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.
