Doris Mantz, 82, loving wife and the mother of 2 children, passed away suddenly on October 9, 2014 in Rome, Georgia. A resident for most of her life in the Athens area, Doris was born in Halsey Valley and graduated from Waverly High School. During her life she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, volunteered for several charitable organizations including United Way and American Red Cross, and worked in the cash office at Ames department store in Sayre for 23 years. After her retirement, Doris was most happy when she was caring for little children as part of the foster grandparent program in Sayre. The remainder of her life was spent living in Georgia with her son. Doris was predeceased by her loving husband, Nevin Mantz. She is survived by her son Nevin Mantz II of Rockmart, Georgia, and 2 grandsons Ryan, Newport Beach, CA and Chris, Horseheads, NY. Other family includes 6 brothers and sisters, several nieces and nephews, and another child and 2 grandchildren. Her final wishes were to be laid to rest next to her husband at Bradford County Memorial Park in Burlington, PA and requested that her final remembrance be private.
