Nelson “Mick” S. Babcock, 72, of Chemung, NY passed away on Monday, October 13, 2014 at Cayuga Medical Center following an extended illness. He was born on June 19, 1942 in Sayre, PA the son of the late Ralph B. and Lavina Brown Babcock. Mick worked and retired from the railroad. While employed with the railroad he was a union steward. He enjoyed watching baseball, especially the Yankees. Mick is survived by his children Kathy Baldwin of GA, Stevie Babcock of GA, Ritchie Babcock of Elmira, NY, Samantha Babcock of Shore View, MN, Penelope and Joseph Friedman of Walworth, NY, Marcus Babcock of Corning, NY, Rebecca and Gary Winslow of Chemung, NY, and Brian and Jackie Babcock of Williamson, NY, grandchildren Alexis Friedman, Landyn Gunderson, Devon and Makenzie Babcock, siblings and in-laws Ralph and Donna Babcock of Athens, PA, Tom and Sonya Babcock of Beebe, AR. Sandra Jean Michaud of Fredericksburg, VA, and Russell Babcock of Sayre, PA, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family may call on Friday, October 17, 2014 from 12pm-2pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Memorial Service will follow at the funeral home at 2pm with the Rev. Linda Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
