Lawrence "Larry" A. Ostrander, Jr., 76, of Gillett, PA, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at home with his family by his side. He was born on October 9, 1938 in Honesdale, PA the son of the late Lawrence A., Sr., and Elizabeth Young Ostrander. Larry graduated from Demascus High School in 1956.He was a Veteran of the Army National Guard. He was employed as a Truck Driver for Stroehmann Bakeries, Sayre, before retiring. Prior to working at Stroehmann's, Larry was a farmer for many years. When farming, he was a Truck Farmer, selling produce out of his truck at different locations in the Valley. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Larry served as a Supervisor for Ridgebury Twp. for several years. He was a member of the Bentley Creek Baptist Church. He is predeceased by his sister Grace Tallman, and brothers George Ostrander, Walter Ostrander, and Elwin Ostrander. Larry is survived by his wife of 30 years Ruth at home, son and daughter-in-law James A. and Dawn Ostrander of Bath, ME, sons Jeffery A. Ostrander of Gillett, PA, and daughter Janice Layton of Waverly, NY, grandchildren Brandi Layton Ashley Woodward, and James A. Ostrander, Jr., great-grandchildren Serneity and Ashton, special mother-in-law Ann McKean of Gillett, PA, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Grant and Debbie McKean of Waverly, NY, Mark and Cathy McKean of Athens, PA, brother-in-law Joe McKean of Alexandria, VA, sister-in-law Rose McKean of Waverly, NY, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family may call on Friday, November 14, 2014 from 6pm – 8pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 11am with the Rev. James S. Ellis from the Bentley Creek Baptist Church officiating.
