Joyce M. Pruyne, 77, of Athens, PA passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Robert Packer Hospital after her courageous battle with cancer. She was born on September 29, 1937 in Sayre, PA the daughter of the late Robert S. and Daisy M. God Vanderpool. Joyce worked for Rynveld Wreath Factory in her earlier years then she went to work for Paxar Label Processing for 31 years until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time in her flower garden and with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her step-father LaVerne Powers and brother Robert S. Vanderpool, Jr. Joyce is survived by her husband of 56 years Robert at home, children and their spouses Donna and Thomas Walters of Milan, PA, Michael Pruyne of Milan, PA, Terry and Lori Pruyne of Addison, NY, Darren Pruyne of Milan, PA and Dean Pruyne of Athens, PA, grandchildren Stacie and Jon Peterman, Nicholas Walters and Malorie Hiller, John Walters and Elizabeth Smith, Dustin and Jamie Pruyne, Cody Pruyne, Austin Pruyne, Jennifer Terrell, Elizabeth Pruyne, Juliet Pruyne, Kyle Pruyne, Tanisha Ostrander, and Douglas Pruyne, great-grandchildren Addison Peterman, Brody Peterman, Parker Walters, David Walters, Jonica Walters, Kendall Walters, Emerson Terrell, and Natalee Beebe, brother and sister-in-law Albert and Janice Vanderpool, sister and brother-in-law Linda and Michael Stanton, sister-in-law Mabel Vanderpool, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Following Joyce’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. The family is being assisted by Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA. Memorial donations may be made in Joyce’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
