Obituary of Larry E. Lantz

Larry E. Lantz, 70, of Athens, PA passed away on Friday, January 30, 2015 at Robert Packer Hospital following an extended illness with his family by his side. He was born on August 1, 1944 in Sayre, PA the son of the late Luther and Kathryn Golden Lantz. Larry was a graduate of Athens Area High School. Upon graduating, he proudly served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked in construction his entire life and owned Lantz Construction Company and took great pride in his craft. He was a member of JE Wheelock Hose Company, Sayre, volunteering many hours on projects. He loved tinkering and building things, but what he loved most was spending time with his family, and his beloved companions, his dogs Dahlia, Karma, and his cat Jack. In his younger days, he enjoyed going to camp and hunting. Larry was an avid Oakland Raiders fan and a music lover. He is predeceased by his first wife Diana Ackley Lantz in 1988, brothers Richard “Dick”, Ralph, and Paul Lantz, and sister Lois Lantz Ludwig. Larry is survived by his spouse of 26 years Karen Cianfoni Harrold at home, children Larry “Buck” Lantz of Waverly, NY, Katrina and Joe Thompson of Jamestown, NC, Luke and Beth Lantz of High Point, NC, and Arianne Lantz and friend Christian Fisher, grandchildren Nicholas Thompson of Jamestown, NC, Lillian Lantz of High Point, NC, and Jason Lantz of High Point, NC, sisters and brothers-in-law Doris and Morris LaDue of Ulster, PA and Carole and Bill Powless of Canada, sister Phyllis Potter of Waverly, NY and Juanita Teeter of Towanda, PA, brother John “Jack” Lantz of Milan, PA, brother and sister-in-law Bill and Madge Lantz of Athens Twp., PA, and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Friends and family may call on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from 5pm-7pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral services will follow at 7pm at the funeral home with the Rev. James Donahoo. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
