Obituary of LuCelia E. Trexler
LuCelia E. Brown Trexler of Sayre, PA died at Robert Packer Hospital on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 following an extended illness.
She was born May 27, 1921 in Granville Twp. to the late John and Laura Campbell Ford.
LuCelia graduated from Troy High School, Troy, Pa. with eleven years of perfect school attendance. She worked at Bailey's Restaurant in N. Towanda in 1940 before marrying Ira Brown Sr. in 1941. During the 1970's she was employed as a nurse's aide at the Bradford County Manor, Troy, Pa. and Sayre House, Sayre, Pa. After her retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at the Bradford County Manor for 20 years as part of her local church's ministry.
LuCelia always found time to serve her local church as a Sunday School Teacher wherever she was living. At the North Waverly Chapel Church in the late 1990's she took a 2 year Bible course on the Life of Christ which she enjoyed very much! The most important day of the week for LuCelia was Sunday so she could attend church.
LuCelia also loved to travel---visiting the Holy Lands twice, several European countries, and visited all 50 states, as well as several provinces in Canada. She was a member of the local, state, and national grange for 65 years--- serving as secretary of Mayflower Grange in Luther's Mills for 25 years.
LuCelia loved her family! Her heart was always full of love and joy for them!
She is survived by her husband of 20 years-- Harold Trexler of Sayre, Pa. and children Ira Brown, Jr. of Milan, Janet (Guy) Schmeckenbecker of Englewood, Fla., Philip (Sharon) Brown of Gillett, Phyllis (Douglas) Shipman of Fayetteville, Pa., Iris May of Ulster, Pa., and Herbert Brown II of Ulster, Pa., a stepson William (Carol) Trexler of Texas. She is a grandmother of 20, great grandmother of 30, and a great, great grandmother of 9 plus several step grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Esther Finnerty of Ulster, Pa., and Edna Jane Welch of Troy, Pa., a brother Gordon Ford of Towanda, Pa.
Preceding her in death was an infant son in 1941, a daughter JoAnn Lewis of East Smithfield, Pa. and brothers John Clinton Ford, Stephen Albert Ford, and sisters Doris Munn, Dorothy Stevens and Eleanor Kisner.
Friends and family may call on Friday, May 29, 2015 from 10:30am – 11:30am at the North Waverly Chapel, Rt. 40 State Route 34, Waverly, NY. Funeral services will follow at the church at 11:30am with the Rev. Matthew Mackivitch officiating.
Burial will be at Hanlon Hill Cemetery in Ridgebury Township, Gillett, PA.
