Robert E. "Bob" Northrup, 79, of Sayre, PA passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 with his family by his side at Athens Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Athens, PA following an extended illness. He was born on February 21, 1936 in Sayre, PA the son of the late Chester and Ellen Blakeman Northrup. Bob worked at Kennedy Valve for more than 30 years, prior to retiring. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. Bob loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Athens American Legion Post 246. He enjoyed spending the winter months with his wife, Betty, in FL. He is predeceased by his daughter Susan Northup. Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years Betty M. Northrup at home, daughter and son-in-law Laura and Tim Swingle of Sayre, PA, son and daughter-in-law Bob and Sue Northrup of South Waverly, PA, grandchildren Ashley and Matt Swingle Voorhees, Cody Swingle and Casey Sutton, Ryan Swingle, Carla Northrup, Jill and Chris Patrick, Rob and Amber Northrup, and John Northrup, 9 great-grandchildren, sisters Carol Grainger of KS and Ann Carroll of Athens, PA, brother and sister-in-law Albert and Pat Northrup of NC, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family may call on Sunday, June 7, 2015 from 2pm-4pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral services will follow at 4pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA on June 8, 2015 at 11am.
