Obituary of Roger Gene Wright

Roger Gene Wright, 75, of Columbia Crossroads, PA passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at home with his family by his side. He was born on January 23, 1940 in Smithfield Twp., PA the son of Roger and Helen Andrus Wright. Roger graduated from SRU High School in 1957. He was a Veteran of the US Army. Upon returning from the service, Roger worked at Hardinge, Inc., Elmira, NY. Roger loved spending time with his family and friends, especially attending his grandchildren's events. He was very active in the East Smithfield Little League when his son, David was on the team. Roger enjoyed playing golf, softball in his younger days, woodworking, jigsaw puzzles, bowling, and camping. He loved vacationing with his wife and family at their home in Zephyrhills, FL. He was a lifetime member of the East Smithfield Federated Church, serving in many capacities and offices. Roger served in the past as a Smithfield Township Supervisor, and was a member of the Smithfield Fire Department. He was an original member of the Raker's Raiders that began the Smithfield Fire Department fireworks. Roger was a lifetime member of the Tri-Township Ambulance Association-East Smithfield Division. He was a Board Member of Union Cemetery and the Casa del Sol Homeowners Association, and a member of the MOOSE in Zephyrhills, FL where they spent vacations. He is predeceased by his father Roger Wright and mother Helen Andrus Hoose. Roger is survived by his wife of 56 years Janice Simmons Wright at home, children Elisa and Thomas Martz of Columbia Crossroads, PA and David and Leah Wright of Easton, PA, grandchildren Maureen Martz, Andrea Martz, Ian Wright, Sidney Wright, Hannah Dreyer, and Paige Dreyer, several cousins, and numerous friends throughout the country and Canada. Friends and family may call on Saturday, September 5, 2015 from 10am-12pm at the East Smithfield Federated Church, Church Street, East Smithfield, PA. Funeral Services will follow at the church at 12pm with the Rev. Stan Gill officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery East Smithfield, PA. Memorial donations may be made in Roger's memory to the: East Smithfield Federated Church, P.O.
