Margaret, "Peg", Jones of Sayre died on September 20, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at Guthrie Towanda Memorial Hospital. Born on February 14, 1924 in Waverly, NY to George and Marguerite Furman. She graduated from Athens Area High School in 1940. She married Edward Jones on February 1, 1942 at the home of her parents in East Athens. They shared 73 wonderful years of marriage and a lifetime together. They renewed their wedding vows during the celebration of their 65th Wedding Anniversary at the Sayre Seventh Day Adventist Church. Mrs. Jones loved family activities and to be out in the work place. She held numerous jobs starting at the Eclipse in Elmira, NY during WW II, Newberrys in Sayre, and O'Brien's Inn in Waverly. She was employed for 25yrs at Marine Midland Bank in Waverly and 18yrs at P&C in Athens, where she loved meeting and talking with her customers. Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband, Edward Jones of Sayre; Sons; Dr. Edward Jones and wife Kathleen of Athens, Dr. Alan Jones and wife Susan of Florida, Dr. Jeffry Jones and wife Addy of Lancaster; Daughters; Mrs. Carole Kalinowski of Dunmore, and Mrs. Jennifer Eidson and husband Keith of Athens; fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Marguerite Furman, sisters; Catherine Carlin, and Shirley Shaffer, brother George Furman Jr., and a son-in-law Joseph Kalinowski. Friends and family may call on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from 1pm-3pm at the Lowery Funeral Home, 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at 3pm at the Funeral Home officiated by her son, Dr. Alan Jones. Interment will be in Scotchtown Cemetery, Erin, NY at the convenience of the family.
