I just learned yesterday of Coach Perry's passing, sad news indeed. While much time has passed since I last saw him, I still remember things that he said or did today. He was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. His talent to teach both in the classroom and on the athletic stage were unmatched. The life lessons I learned from Coach are still adhered to today in my life.
My deepest sympathy's and prayers go to the family. Thank you for sharing him with us.

To the Family of Mr. Perry, thank you for sharing such a great man with the students of the S-VE school district. Such fond memories of great teacher, coach and mentor. He was as a gracious human being and his presence at school is what it mean to have "Panther Pride". Take comfort in knowing he was admired by so many!

Bill Perry was my history teacher and football coach. I always knew him as "Mr. Perry" and remember him as a great teacher and "old school" football coach who taught me and many others life lessons we carry with us to this day. Mr. Perry was a kind man who treated everyone fairly, and cared deeply for all his students and athletes. As I recall, he started the wrestling program at Spencer Central School, and was a devoted coach who wanted to win, but, more importantly, wanted his wrestlers to realize that nothing is achieved without hard work. He tried to recruit me to his wrestling team, but I liked basketball better, and remember finishing basketball practice and seeing the wrestlers still toiling away as we headed for the locker rooms. He was a fine man and will be missed.

Having graduated from SVE high school forty some years ago, memories of past teachers, classes and activities have slowly faded away, yet Mr. Perry's teachings in the wrestling room remain clear; for that is where I learned how to succeed. Through wrestling, Coach Perry taught many valuable lessons: the importance of mastering fundamentals, that practive makes perfect, the rewards of hard work and discipline, goal setting, and the courage to step out of one's comfort zone. These lessons carry over to academics, business and many of life's pursuits. I remember Coach Perry as a patient and even tempered man; always encouraging - win or lose, setting high yet achievable goals, and making every effort that we all reach our goals. I thank him for starting the wrestling program at SVE, taking me under his wing, and being the most influential person in my early development. I grieve for his loss, yet rejoice that his spirit lives on.

Bill was a truly kind spirit who loved his work and most of all his students. He was a delight to have in our school and he made everyone better for his being there. Always calm, always peaceful
and quick to laugh or find the positive side to life. We could stand to have a lot more of him in our world, a truly gentle
soul.

I am so sad to hear of Coach Perry's passing. I consider him a major influence on my life. As an S-VE wrestler, I count myself extremely lucky to have had him as a coach, teacher, and administrator. I am very thankful that Coach Perry took the time and interest to come to our home and ask my dad if he would allow his boys to go out for wrestling. Coach Perry's masterful coaching and encouragement put S-VE wrestling on the Section IV map. In the process, he was a positive force in my life as well as my brothers and I'm sure hundreds of other young men that he coached during his amazing life.
I don't know what to say other than "Thanks Coach". Your spirit will live on through the countless people you have influenced. I hope your wife, daughters and family will be comforted in knowing you made a difference!
Sincerely,
Bob Eddy

Coach Perry was the best and a lot of my most positive memories from school revolve around the wrestling team (Sayre Class of 1977). He provided guidance and support on and off the mats. I was fortunate to sit with him in 2010 and reminisce as he was in for rehab in Waverly, a coincidence because my Dad was in the same facility. He was still a bright soul and he will be missed.
