Obituary of John L. Cabisca
John L. "Johnson" Cabisca Jr. of Moravia, NY passed away unexpectedly after a short bout of illness on Friday, October 9th 2015.
Born February 24th 1964 in Batavia, NY, John was the son of Judith and John Cabisca, Sr.
John was a 1981 graduate of Otto-Eldred High School, later on pursuing a career as a Corrections Officer at the New York State Cayuga Correctional Facility.
Cherished by many and loved by most, John will be remembered as a warm hearted and devoted husband to his admirably dedicated and affectionate wife of 23 years, Tina.
John, an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed spending his time hunting with his dog, Rooster, and exploring new waters in his search for his next fishing trophy. Unwavering in his love for his grandchildren John, or "Poppie" as they commonly referred to him as, found great tranquility in the sounds of their laughter as they chased one another on four wheelers at his home or as he wrapped them in his warm embrace making sure that they knew, "Poppies love hugs."
Firmly believing in the ideology that everyone deserves to be in receipt of affection, John, along with his wife, found room in his heart to welcome 10 children from the Cayuga Center Treatment Family Foster Care Program in Auburn, NY, into their home where they discovered what it meant to be part of an environment that was committed to family.
In addition to his wife and 9 grandchildren, John was survived by his mother, Judith Cabisca, his four dearest children: Samantha (Eric) Myers of Moravia, John M. Cabisca, Christopher (Nikkie) Cabisca of Cortland, and Sidney Cabisca; 2 esteemed sisters, Julie (Paul) Everson of Barton, NY and Jillena (Dana) Whitcomb of Springville, NY; his closest companion, a brother, Jackson (Amanda) Cabisca and several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his father, John Cabisca, Sr.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2015 from 10-11 a.m. at the North Waverly Chapel, 38 New York 34, Waverly, NY. A Memorial Service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. Matthew Mackivitch officiating.
