Obituary of Florence M. Haxton Lecher
Florence M. Haxton Lecher 87, of Waverly, NY, formerly of Milan went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Robert Packer Hospital with her family by her side.
She was born on March 14, 1928 in Moscow, PA the daughter of William and Adelia Scott Dobson.
Florence loved the Lord with all her heart and her desire was to see all those she came in contact with to have a personal relationship with Him. When her children were growing up she always had a houseful of kids and they all called her Ma Haxton. And as all those kids grew she took in their children as grandchildren. She always entertained all the teens in her home which included camping, sleepovers, and many meals. Florence served the Lord for over 80 years, was the leader of the Missionettes at Assembly of God Glad Tidings, and served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Ma Haxton will be missed by all those who knew her and loved her. She will be remembered not only for her love of the Lord, but the lady with the infectious laugh and always that she had a positive, joyful attitude in all circumstances.
Florence enjoyed going to the Athens Stockyards every Monday as a special treat. She enjoyed sewing in the past and knitting. She was a member of the Penny Promenaders. Florence loved working with her flowers. She could always be found in the kitchen during canning season putting up her tomatoes, green beans, jellies and jams, and relishes. Florence was known for always wanting to own a truck and she loved motorcycles, as she was known as Motorcycle Mama.
She was predeceased by her husband Llewellyn “Bud” Haxton, her son Thomas Haxton, great-granddaughter Desirae Smith, great-grandson Little Buddy Smith, step-son Matthew Lecher, sisters Beatrice, Tessie, Wanita, Cecila, Verna, her brother Lawrence, and 9 siblings that she never had the opportunity to meet.
