Darlene S. Hayford of Athens, PA, passed away Monday October 26, 2015 at the age of 60 at her home following a battle with cancer surrounded by her family and pets. She was born on May 28, 1955 in Troy, PA and was the daughter of William M. and Alene Wakely Ordway. Darlene graduated from S.R.U. High School as the Salutatorian of the class of 1973 and went on to attend Corning Community College. Darlene was a member of the E. Smithfield Federated Church. Darlene married David on October 19, 1973 and they celebrated 42 years of marriage. Darlene’s first job was at Kennedy Country Store and then went on to work at Durabilt Products Inc. for 26 years. She then retired due to illness from the Guthrie Clinic after 15 years as a secretary. Darlene was fond of all types of animals. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, and especially loved spending time with her family. Darlene was predeceased by her father William M. Ordway and step-father Kenneth Gerould. Darlene is survived by her husband David of 42 years at home; her children David W. Hayford of Athens, PA, Danielle and Leslie “Bubba” Lloyd of Jena, LA; her mother Alene W. Gerould of E. Smithfield, PA; sister and brother-in-law Diane and Terry Husted of Centerville, PA, brother Duane Ordway of Lockwood, NY, sister and brother-in-law Darla and Peter Sielaff of Trumansburg, NY, sister-in-law Jackie Lima of Centerville, PA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and her beloved dogs Maggie and Hunter. Friends and family may call on Thursday, October 29, 2015 from 11am-1pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 225 S. Main Street, Athens, PA 18810. Funeral services will follow at 1pm at the funeral home with the Rev. Stan Gill officiating. Burial will take place at Bradford County Memorial Park in Luthers Mills, PA.
