Merle M. Cardenas, 47, of Ulster, PA passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015. He was born on April 10, 1968 in Sayre, PA, the son of the late Blair Babcock and Shirley Williams Babcock. Merle worked at Bishops True Value but was best known for building and his handyman work. He attended Zion Chapel in Waverly. Merle loved spending time by the campfires and having cookouts with his family and friends. He enjoyed taking pictures, photo shopping them, and boat rides down the river. When he was younger, he was an avid bowler and worked at Shamrock Lanes in Ulster. He also enjoyed spending time with his dogs. Merle was a devoted husband and father who is survived by his beloved wife of 19 years Denise and his children Hannah, Hailey, and Braden Cardenas all of Ulster. He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law Edon and Magan Babcock of Towanda, PA, Garth and Jennifer Babcock of Rome, PA, and Devon and Becky Babcock of Lowman, NY step-mother Joan Babcock of Rome, PA, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and best friends Jim and Connie Johnson of Litchfield, PA. Friends and family may call on Friday, October 30, 2015 from 1pm – 3pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremations Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at 3pm with the Rev. David Wallis of Zion Chapel officiating. Burial will be in Towner Hill Cemetery, Rome, PA.
