Frances Marie Fritzie Farrell, 80, of Sayre was born October 6, 1935 in Susquehanna, PA daughter to Augustine and Catherine Grace Fritzie. She passed away at Elderwood Nursing Home on February 1, 2016. Frances is predeceased by her husband, James Farrell of Sayre, PA, her parents Augustine and Grace, siblings Anne Bedford of California, Anthony Fritzie of South Dakota and Elizabeth Fritizie of Pennsylvania and daughter Maureen Farrell. Frances was a graduate of Susquehanna High School and St. Joseph’s School of Nursing of Elmira, NY 1956. After graduation from nursing school, Frances worked in Auburn at the Veterans Hospital and then Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. She was a dedicated nurse with compassion and took care of many friends, family members and community members over the years. Frances was a member of the Epiphany Church of Sayre, PA and was a member of Altar and Rosary Society, served as leader for Catholic daughters and devoted many hours in Adoration. Fran worked at Mangialardos Restaurant, Newberry’s Restaurant and Park Bakery for many years as cooking was her favorite thing to do. Frances is survived by her children Jamie (Dave) Wilcox of Erin, NY, Mark (Anita) Farrell of Sayre, PA and Matthew Farrell of Endicott, NY; her grandchildren Gerald Hess of Elmira, NY, Jenny (Ed) Stryker of Fircrest, WA, Jessica (Scott) Mersinger of Bloomsburg, PA, James Homan of Elmira, NY, Moriah Farrell of Sayre, PA, Cody Rosich, and Travis Rosich; great grandchildren Colin, Mason, Wyatt, Miloh and Alexa. She is survived by her siblings Joseph Fritzie of Florida and Milie Huntley of Claifornia along with many sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends and family may call Wednesday, February 3, 2016 from 5-7:00pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Epiphany Catholic Church, 304 South Elmer Avenue, Sayre, PA on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 9:30am with Father Vincent Langan officiating. Burial will be in the Epiphany Cemetery.
