James E. McGettigan, 74, of Sayre, PA passed away Friday, February 19, 2016 at the Robert Packer Hospital unexpectedly. He was born July 10, 1941 in Philadelphia, PA the son of the late William and Frances Reiley McGettigan. James was a Veteran of the US Army, serving proudly during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the local Pipe Fitters Union # 692 for 30 years. James and his wife Janice moved here in 1998 and started the Militia Hill Alpaca Farm. He was a member of the Sayre Sportsman’s Club. He is predeceased by his wife Janice McGettigan and brothers William C., Daniel J. and Gerald McGettigan. James is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Fran and Wayne Barrett of Brooklyn, NY, brother Dennis P. McGettigan of Quakertown, PA and brother and sister-in law John J. and Debbie McGettigan of Marmora, NJ along with 12 nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, February 26, 2016 at 1:00PM at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. 225 S. Main St., Athens, PA with the Rev. Joseph Kutch officiating.
