Obituary of Arlene Wanda Carlyle
Arlene Wanda Carlyle, 91, of Sayre, PA passed away on Friday, March 18, 2016 at the Green Home in Wellsboro, PA following an extended illness.
She was born on December 10, 1924 in Covington, PA, the daughter of the late Ralph H. and Doris (Mudge) Benson.
Arlene graduated from Mansfield High School in 1942 and then attended Elmira Business Institute from 1942-1943. She married Deo G. Carlyle on June 12, 1952, celebrating 56 years of marriage before Deo’s passing in 2008. Arlene was an Office Clerk at Claverack Rural Electric in Wysox, PA, retiring December 31, 1979. She was a member of the Sayre United Methodist Church and attended the First Baptist Church in Wellsboro after moving to that area. She was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution, and the Athens Senior Citizens.
She is predeceased by her husband Deo G. Carlyle, aunts Marion Kennedy and Rachel Carson.
Arlene is survived by her brother and sister-in-law W.R. “Bud” and Rose Benson of Covington, PA, aunt Dorna Heyler of Westfield, PA, nieces Dena Benson of Covington, PA, Carla Jungquist of Canandaigua, NY, and Elizabeth Quetschenbach of Hilton, NY, great nieces Sara and Jeff Herbst of Blossburg, PA and Danielle Jungquist and Andy Wielgosz of Rochester, NY, great nephews Eric and Nicki Gee of Mansfield, PA and Brian and Colleen Jungquist of FL, many great-great-nieces and nephews, and several cousins.
Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 10:30am at Tioga Point Cemetery, 803 North Main Street, Athens, PA with the Rev. Jeff McCleary officiating. The family is being assisted by
Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.
Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
