Obituary of Denise E. Gardener

Denise E. (Szerwiel) Gardner, 61, of Towanda, PA passed away with her family by her side following her courageous battle against cancer on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA She was born September 6, 1954 in Somerville, NJ the daughter of the late John and Pauline (Semuta) Szerwiel. Denise was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She worked as a Machinist at the Ingersoll Rand, Athens for many years. When her sons were in school, Denise and her husband, Jack never missed their sporting events. No matter the distance, they were in the stands with their voices cheering them on. She took great pride in sewing, quilting, crocheting, and gardening. She loved cooking, especially for her family and friends. Denise will be remembered for her big heart, reaching out to others, and being willing to do anything for anyone. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. She is predeceased by her parents and brother Alex Szerwiel. Denise is survived by her loving husband of 39 years Jack at home, her beloved sons and daughters-in-law Richard and Kierstin Gardner of Athens, PA, and Alex and Sarah Gardner of Avon, OH. She will be missed by her grandchildren Raven, Ashton, Timothy, Hudson, and William, her sister and brother-in-law Sheila Ann and Roy Reynolds of Alvarado, TX, and her sister Nadene Szerwiel of Manville, NJ. She is also survived by her aunt Tina Semenkow of Camp Hill, PA, and several nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins. A Celebration of Denise’s Life will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 4pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA with Pastor Zach Labagh officiating.
