Obituary of Rosemary "Rose" McKean

Rosemary “Rose” McKean, 49, of Waverly, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 25, 2016 at home. She was born on September 14, 1966 in Sayre, PA, the daughter of the late Grant, Sr. and Ann Gizzi McKean. Rose worked at State Line Auto as a Group Leader and Paxar in South Waverly, PA. She was a loyal patron of Dunkin Donuts “D&D”. Wherever she journeyed, she was always on the lookout for her favorite coffee spot. She was a faithful friend and loved her family and friends unconditionally. Rose was a giving and loving person who would do anything for anyone at any time. She gave of herself to be sure that people were cared for. Her main hobby was: she loved to drive. With her job at Stateline she got to see many places and kept everyone up to date with her photos of each place she travelled to. Rose was a prankster and everyone around her was “fair game”. She was best known for wearing shorts no matter what the weather, even when temperatures were below zero. She is predeceased by her Brother in law Larry Ostrander and extended family James “Jim” King and R. Richard “Dick” King. Rose is survived by her Siblings Grant and Debbie McKean of Waverly, NY, Ruth Ostrander of Gillett, PA, Mark and Cathy McKean of Athens, PA, Twin brother Joseph “Joe” McKean of California, MD, Aunts June Costanzo of TX and Mary McGrath of Athens, PA; nieces and nephews Jeremy McKean of Campbell, NY, Kevin and Audrey McKean of Sayre, PA, Andrew Sozanski, Amy McKean and fiancé Matt DuPre of Apalachin, NY, Seth McKean of Athens, PA, Rainey McKean of Athens, PA, Jeff Ostrander of Gillett, PA and her extended family Irene Shoemaker and family of Van Etten, NY and Fran Simko of Athens Township, PA Linda Rogers and her children Pam and Cliff McCabe of Litchfield, PA, Shelly and Brian Steward of South Waverly, PA and their children; Joe and Linda King of Athens Township, PA and their family; Mary and Art Hall of Dundee, NY and their family; Barb King and family. Several great nieces, nephews and cousins; special friend Terese Mullen of Spencer, NY and many friendships made through work and throughout her life. Friends and family may call Sunday, May 1, 2016 from 1-3pm at the Athens Township Volunteer Fire Company, 150 Herrick Avenue, Sayre, PA. Funeral Services will follow at the Fire Company at 3pm with her extended family member Rev. Linda Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Lowery Funeral Home, 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA 18810 to go towards expenses of the services.
