Edward Anthony "Dick" Johnston, 88, of Sayre, PA passed away at home on Thursday, May 19, 2016 with his family by his side. He was born May 2, 1928 in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Marion Johnston. Dick attended Sayre High School and was a Veteran of WWII, serving as a Corporal with US Air Force. He owned and operated Johnston Aluminum Siding and was employed by Paxar Corporation, Sayre as a Press Operator for over 40 years, retiring in 1992. Dick was a member of IAM served as past President, a member of American Legion Post #492, served as a Past Commander and on the Board of Directors, and was a member of the Sayre VFW Skiff Bower Post #1536. He was a Scoutmaster for Troop 76. He was one of the Charter Members of the IRFCU that was instrumental in beginning the Credit Union. He is predeceased by his daughter Sandy Henry, grandson David Maher, his grandparents Nettie and James Johnston who raised him, mother Marion Johnston, sister Dorothy Havens, his twin brother Edwin Johnston and brothers James, Calvin, and Henry Johnston. Dick is survived by his wife of 67 years Betty L. Lantz at home, children Patricia "Pat" (James) Post of Towanda, PA, Ronald (Mike) Holly of Orlando, FL, James (Debbie) Johnston of Sayre, PA, Candice (Roger) Maher of Waverly, NY, Daniel Johnston of Athens, PA, and John (Terry) Johnston, twelve grandchildren Denise (Ralph) Grimes, Jimmy Post ( Kristy Cook), Kathy (David) Tuttle, Jason (Jolenia) Henry, Jeremy (Cheryl) Johnston, Adam (Larissa Johnston, Christopher (Melissa) Johnston, Jessica (Jeffery) Guiles, Corey (Jessica) Maher, Mariah Hall (George Middaugh), Edward (Mary) Johnston, and Zack Johnston, twenty-one great-grandchildren Seth, Justen, Ryan Morgan, Mikayla, Kristy, Tim, Kaitlynn, Jayce, Jacob, Tanner, Gavin, Maddie, Aiden, Isabella, Kylie, Christopher, Jr., Kendal, Jasmine, Jade, Jeffery, and Keenan, two great-great-grandchildren Khole and Carter, and several nieces and nephews. Friends and family may call on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 2pm – 4pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Memorial Service will follow at 4pm at the funeral home with the Rev. Linda Rogers officiating.
