Janice M. Brown, 86, of East Smithfield, PA passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the Sayre Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness. She was born on May 31, 1929 in Sayre, PA the daughter of the late Charles Raymond and Reta Lake Lewis. Janice was a graduate of the Sayre High School. She was a devoted wife, mother and faithful Christian who attended the East Smithfield Federated Church. She was dedicated to the Federated Church Bible Study. Janice was a member of the Bradford County Women Republican Party. She also was a member of the Tim Leonard Rod and Gun Club, East Smithfield Seniors, Valley Quilters, and a long-time member of the East Smithfield Garden Club. Janice loved music and dancing. She had a lifelong love of horses. She is predeceased by her husband Walter L. Brown, Sr., brother C. Raymond Lewis, Jr., sisters Betty Walton, Dorothy Rogers, and her twin sister Joyce Wood. Janice is survived by her children Walter L., Jr. and Sharon Brown of Ulster, PA, Larry Brown of Gillett, PA, Neil and Pat Brown of Columbia CrossRoads, PA, Kevin and Tammy Brown of Milan, PA, Cheryl and Lamar Kanagy of Washington Boro, PA, and Linda and Mark Elsbree of Sayre, PA, 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, sister Roselyn Jarvis of Athens, PA, and numerous nieces and nephews.. Friends and family may call Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 5pm-7pm at Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 11am at the East Smithfield Federated Church, 531 Main Street, East Smithfield, PA with the Rev. Timothy Robson officiating.
