Obituary of Richard L. Button
Richard L. "Dick" Button, 80, of Athens, PA passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Robert Packer Hospital with his family by his side following an extended illness.
He was born September 23, 1935 in New Berlin, NY the son of the late Adrian and Eleanor (Jackson) Button, and raised by his grandparents Leon and Leeta Button.
Dick loved spending time with his family. He retired from I.B.M., Owego following 35 years of faithful service. Following his retirement, he went to work at Ted Clark's Busy Market. Dick loved to read, especially about the Civil War. He also enjoyed listening to country music.
Dick is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years whom he called "darlin" Ellen at home, daughters Stacey Button of Tupper Lake, NY and Emily Sarah of Pittsburgh, PA and her fiancé Patrick , grandchildren Noah, Tiegan, Amelia, Lucia, and Maia, and very dear friends Jenn and her son Reese.
At Dick's request, there will be no calling hours or services. The family is being assisted by Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Athens, PA.
