William H. “Bill” Fenton, Jr., 87, of Sayre, PA, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2016 at the Athens Health and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. He was born on December 6, 1928 in Sayre, PA the son of the late William H., Sr. and Mary N. May Fenton. Bill was a Veteran, serving during WWII in the US Navy. He was employed with American LaFrance, Elmira for 33 years until the business closed. As a young boy, he started school at the Elmer Avenue School and on his way home every day, Bill delivered newspapers. He attended Sayre High School until the 11th grade, until his parents moved to Athens, where he graduated from Athens High School. Bill loved spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting events. He enjoyed camping, traveling throughout the United States, and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is predeceased by his sons David Lee Fenton and Jeffrey Fenton, daughter-in-law Robin Fenton, sister LuLu Ervine, and brothers-in-law Curtis Ervine and Paul Rolls. William is survived by his wife of 65 years Marguerite at home, son James Fenton of Towanda, PA (Luisa Spencer), grandchildren Tiffanie and Scott Keir of Rome, PA, Ryan and Amanda Fenton of Athens, PA, and Bryan Fenton of Rome, PA, great-grandchildren Tyler Keir, Ashlee Post, Kyleigh Post, Kolton Keir, and Rozlyn Fenton, sister Shirley Rolls, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family may call on Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 10am-12pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 12pm with the Rev. Anne Bey Canfield officiating. Burial will be in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills, PA at the convenience of the family.
