Louise Franks, age 85, of Waverly, NY passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Elderwood at Waverly after a period of declining health. Louise was born on May 1, 1931 in Sayre, PA the daughter of the late Edwin and Bessie Burgess Slater. She worked at Remington Rand in Elmira, NY, a Nurse’s Aide at Robert Packer Hospital, Waverly Dress Factory and drove a school bus for Special needs children. Louise and her husband own and operated Franks’ Midway Market in Barton, NY. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, going to Tioga Downs, and spending time with her family and friends. Louise also enjoyed spending the weekends at Barclay Mountain. Louise is predeceased by her husband Paul Franks, Jr., daughter Anne Franks, son Scott Louis, Brothers Charles Slater and Raymond Inman. She is survived by her children Paula O’Dell and Dale Beers of Barton, NY, Paul “Boomer” Franks, III of Barton, NY, Kathy and Van Randall of East Smithfield, PA, William and Donna Franks of Cocoa, FL and Becky and John Ward of Waverly, NY, step-daughter Carol (Jack) Dyer of Christiana, PA; 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren; siblings and in-laws Eugene Inman Meshoppen, PA, Lucy Hamilton Windsor, NY, Mary Louise Novotny Gillet, PA and Pauline Brekke of NJ; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special friend John Hallett. A visitation will be held at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 from 1-3pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at 3pm at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Louise to Elderwood Activities Center, 37 North Chemung Street, Waverly, NY 14892.
