Obituary of Bonnie K. Wilcox

Bonnie K. Wilcox, 72, of Smithfield Twp., went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at home following a brief courageous battle with cancer. She was born January 22, 1944 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of the late James W., Sr. and Betty (Walsh) Brooks. Bonnie graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Mansfield University and was a Teacher while her husband attended Veterinary School. After James' graduation, together they established Laurel Hill Veterinary Service in East Smithfield. Bonnie also was a stay at home mom, raising her 3 boys. She was a Life Member of the East Smithfield Federated Church. Bonnie was very active in the church holding many positions and duties, including that of Trustee. Her love was working and spending time with children. She was involved with the puppet ministry, was a Sunday School Teacher and taught Vacation Bible School. Bonnie enjoyed, gardening, arranging and growing flowers, sewing and quilting, and baking. She will be remembered by many for her famous Chocolate Chip Cookies. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is predeceased by her brother James W. Brooks, Jr., brothers-in-law Donald Cole, Clayton Murphy, and Robert Wilcox, and sister-in-law Donna Ruby Murphy. Bonnie is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years James at home, sons and daughters-in-law Christopher and Laura Wilcox of Mechanicsburg, PA, Timothy and Sheryl Wilcox of East Smithfield, PA, and Dr. Andrew and Susan Wilcox of East Smithfield, PA, grandchildren Julia, Jenna, Stella, Sydney, Kevin, Alex, Ethan, Isaac, and Olivia, brothers and sisters-in-law Dennis and Dialima Brooks and Brian and Cindy Brooks, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gene and Sally Wilcox, sisters-in-law Sandy Cole, Sandra Wilcox, and Marion Brooks, several nieces, nephews, and cousins, Julia and Jenna's mom Darlene Wilcox, and extended family member Swedish Exchange Student Patrik Molin and his wife Sophia and their children. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 from 6pm – 8pm at the Jay E. Lowery Family and Cremation Services, 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 2pm at the East Smithfield Federated Church, 531 Main Street, East Smithfield, PA with Pastor Tim Robson.
