Obituary of Robert R. Dryer

Robert R. Dryer, Sr., age 77, of Lowman, NY went home to be with his Lord on Friday, September 9, 2016 at the Athens Health and Rehabilitation Center, Athens, PA. He was born on January 9, 1939 in Johnson City, NY, the son of the late Raymond W. and Alice (Jenny) Dryer. Robert was a Veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a self-employed carpenter. Robert was a man who could build anything, no matter how big or small, including 2 cabins from the ground up. He was handy at doing any type of repairs for anyone. A man who was a dedicated Christian, loved the Lord and reading His Word, and who had old fashioned values. He would do anything for anyone without asking or expecting anything in return, a man who gave from his heart. He opened his home to all of his children's friends when they were growing up, never turning anyone away, and he became "their dad" as well. Being an "Old School Pioneer", Robert enjoyed and raised his own vegetables and always had many animals including cows, chickens, and rabbits. He lived his faith by helping all those around him. He is predeceased by his son Brian Joseph Dryer and brothers Rodney Dryer and James Dryer. Robert is survived by his children Robert, Jr. and Linda Dryer of Gillett, PA, Christopher "Chris" Hafflett and Stephanie Hallett of Elmira, NY, Todd and Charlotte Dryer of AL, Mark Dryer of Candor, NY, and Beth and Pam Dryer of Ithaca, NY, 15 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, brother and sister-in-law Richard and Beverly Dryer of Maine-Endwell, NY, several nieces, nephews, and cousins and many close friends that will miss him. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 11am at the North Chemung United Methodist Church, 677 Breesport North Chemung Road, Lowman, NY with Pastor Chip Possee officiating.
