Obituary of Calvin Bacorn
Calvin C. Bacorn, 88, of Barton, NY passed away peacefully on Monday, April 2, 2012 at Robert Packer Hospital.
He was born on February 26, 1924 in Camp Brule, Elkland Township, Sullivan County, PA the son of the late Floyd Parker and Julia Elizabeth Chapman Bacorn.
Calvin attended Bethal School. He spent his childhood years on a farm in Camp Brule, Elkland Township and later in life he moved to Chemung, NY. Calvin worked at Ingersoll Rand, Athens, PA as a Machinist. He was an avid gardener and had a vegetable stand in Chemung, NY. He was well known for his delicious corn and other vegetables. Calvin’s interests surrounded his home, beloved family, country music, gardening, carpentry, and traveling. He also enjoyed spending time at Tioga Downs.
He is predeceased by his brothers Rodney Russell, Vernon, Merton, and Robert, sisters Genevieve Bacorn, Blanche Brewer, Ruth Wilcox, Isabel Wiles, and Marie Sherman, and special nephew Donnie Bacorn.
Calvin is survived by his mate of 38 years Doris Moses at home, sisters-in-law Patricia Bacorn of New Albany, PA, Edna Bacorn of Lowman, NY, several nieces and nephews, and extended family members Rick LaFave of Trumansburg, NY, Jeffrey LaFave of Trumansburg, NY, Debra LaFave of Trumansburg, NY, Corine Williams of Reno, NV, and Kathleen Marshall of Venus, FL, several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and his beloved pet Minnie.
Friends and family may call on Saturday, April 7, 2012 from 11am to 12pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at the Funeral Home at 12pm with the Rev. Linda Rogers officiating.
Burial will be in the Chemung Cemetery, Chemung, NY.
