Walter L. “Walt” Patton, 88, of Athens, PA passed away Friday, November 11, 2016 at the Robert Packer Hospital following a brief illness surrounded by his family. He was born May 1, 1928 in Athens, PA the son of the late William G. and Mabel Ammerman Patton. Walt worked at the Ingersoll-Rand, Walt was the past Fire Chief of the Athens Borough Fire Department, past President of the Athens Borough Fire Board, Athens Borough Fireman’s Relief and Diahoga Hose Co. past President of the Valley Smoke Eaters Gun Club, member of the Athens American Legion, Sayre Elks Club, Litchfield United Methodist Church, Litchfield Fire Company, He enjoyed hunting, going for rides and going on cruises. Walt is predeceased by his first wife Shirley, sisters Ethel Waterman and Elizabeth Jean Place; brother William C. Patton, grandson Sean Robinson. Walt is survived by his wife of 16 years Joyce at home, children Vicki and Robert Fulmer of Towanda, PA, Michael Patton of Athens, PA, Dale and Cathy Patton of E. Athens, PA, Pam and Mike Felt of Virginia, Tina and Ed Rogers of Waverly, NY, Grandchildren Ryan and Terri Fulmer of Towanda, PA, Shannon and Paul Maynard of Towanda, PA, Courtney Fulmer of Virginia, Trent Patton of Virginia, Trevor Patton of East Athens, Trey Patton of North Carolina, Krista and Dan Riggs of Indiana, Kiley Robinson of Athens, PA, Melanie and Bill Corbett of Troy, PA, Lisa and Jeff Biles of Athens, PA, 19 great grandchildren, sister Darlene Conrad of Chemung, NY, Brother-in-law Tom and Roberta Place, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends and may call Sunday, November 13, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00PM and Monday, November 14, 2016 from 1:00 – 2:00PM, Funeral will follow at 2:00PM on November 14, 2016 at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 S. Main St., Athens, PA 18810. Burial will be in the Tioga Point Cemetery.
