She graduated from White Sulphur Springs High School in 1939 earning an award as the manager of the basketball team and an award for being the business manager of the school newspaper "The Fountain". After traveling the United States, the family settled in west Sayre, PA on the corner of Lincoln Street and S. Keystone Avenue. The family owned the Seven Sisters Sweet Shop. In 1945 at the Joycrest Roller Rink in Elmira, NY she met F. Romeyn Allis. After a courtship, they were married on June 7, 1946. They celebrated 49 years of marriage including a family of six children until the passing of Romeyn on November 9, 1995. Together they enjoyed life together on their farm in Litchfield, PA. Margaret was a stay at home mom most of her life, working a brief time at the Valley House in the late 1960's. Mom was a partner with Dad on the farm doing things like churning butter, making lard, baking pies and teaching her daughters how to cook. In the summer, she worked in the vegetable garden and using the fruits of her labor she taught her daughters how to can foods so there was plenty of food to eat during the winter season. Margaret and Romeyn enjoyed many years bowling on the Hillbilly Bowling League and she also bowled on the Foxy Ladies bowling league. Margaret enjoyed sports mainly watching basketball and football. She also enjoyed the visits of her children and grandchildren. Margaret was born a Presbyterian and later changed her denomination to Methodist and was a member of the Litchfield United Methodist Church for 65 years.
