Obituary of Michael D. Blakeman

Michael D. "Mike" Blakeman, 50, of Van Etten, NY passed away on Monday, December 12, 2016 at home with his family at his side. He was born on March 10, 1966 in Middletown, CT; the son of Donald R. and Louise Finch Blakeman. Mike was employed with Jay's Carpet for many years and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also loved Car Racing both NASCAR and local. He loved competing in Atlatl spear throwing. He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents Nellie Harmon and George Finch, paternal grandparents Clarence and Agnes Blakeman; brothers Mark Blakeman and step-brother Phil Austin, Jr. He is survived by his parents Louise and Phil Austin of Waverly, NY and Donald and (Pat) Blakeman of Chemung, NY; his children Michael Blakeman of LaVerngne, TN, Jyliane Blakeman of LaVerngne, TN, Chad Burgess of Waverly, NY, Brittany Blakeman of Spencer, NY and Brad Lee Blakeman of Spencer, NY; grandchildren Emily and Aiden; step siblings Steven and Jodi Austin of Waverly, NY, Christine and Joe Peters of Chemung, NY and Michael and Danielle Austin of Waverly, NY; many aunts and uncles; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends and Family may call on Saturday, December 17, 2016 from 10am to 12 noon at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 12 noon. Burial will be in the Chemung Cemetery, Chemung, NY.
