William F. "Bill" Talada, 84, of Sayre, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at the Sayre Healthcare Center, Sayre, PA. He was born on February 21, 1932, in Sayre, PA, the son of the late Lawrence and Pearl (Lucas) Talada. Bill was a Veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean War. He was employed with the Ingersoll-Rand, Athens, for 42 years, prior to retiring. Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved all sports but especially NASCAR with his favorite driver being Rusty Wallace, watching NY Mets Baseball and NY Rangers Hockey teams play. Bill was a lifetime member of the Athens Borough Fire Department, beginning with the company when it was Diahoga Hose Company #6 and a member of American Legion Post #246, Athens for 44 years. For 18 years, he volunteered with Meals on Wheels. He is predeceased by his infant sister Diana. Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Doris J. Talada at home, brothers Robert Wes (Doris A.) Talada of Athens, PA and James (Karan) Talada of El Cajon, CA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Nancy Bradley and brother-in-law Robert Pruyne. Friends and family may call on Thursday, December 22, 2016 from 11am-1pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at the funeral home at 1pm with Fire Chaplain Linda Rogers officiating. Burial will be in the Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
