Joyce R. Searfoss, 83, of Monroeton, PA passed away Friday, December 23, 2016. She was born on July 14, 1933, in Sayre, PA, the twelfth child of the late Olin C. and Edna (Stevens) Cobb. Joyce lived in Laceyville in her younger years and moved to Sayre as a young teen. She graduated from Sayre High School, Class of 1951. She married the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Searfoss on September 20, 1952 and they shared 43 years together, raising their children, hunting and fishing. They spent as much time as they could at their cabin on Barclay Mountain, finally moving there in 1972. Joyce also loved auctions, baking, cooking, and crocheting baby blankets which she gifted to all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was also very proud of having 5 generations, not once but 3 times. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dick and all of her brothers Glenn, Carl, Robert, Lewis, and Bryce and sisters Mary, Helen, Esther, Mabel, Eleanor, and Gladys. Joyce is survived by her children and their families Mari (Rich) Barrett of Bentley Creek, PA, Roger Searfoss of Elmira, NY, Victor Searfoss of Gillett, PA, Ronnie (Cheryl) Searfoss of Monroeton, PA and Theresa Brown of Monroeton, PA, her grandchildren Christopher Miller, Shawn (Katie) Miller, Joshua (Dani) Miller, Jennifer (Jared) Davis, Matthew (Moriah) Barrett, Jacob (Alisha) Barrett, Ryan (Kristen) Searfoss, Heather (Thad) Wilcox, Noelle Searfoss, Shane Searfoss and Greg (Christy) Bishop, granddaughter-in-law Billie Jo Miller. great-grandchildren Alicia (Brandon), Jimmy, Kristin (Craig), Zachary, Emma, Lennox, Hannah, Alyssa, Annie, Dalton, Briley, Sophia, Bryce, Eris, Dallas, Elinor, Meeah, Ethynn, and soon to be born Haven, great-great-grandchildren Landon, Colton and Reagan. She is also survived by brothers-in-law Skip (Betty) Searfoss, Leo Searfoss, and Clyde Searfoss, and sister-in-law Tillie Searfoss. She also leaves behind her grandpup, Fancy and her kitties, who gave her much joy. As per Joyce’s wishes, there will be no services or calling hours. The family is being assisted by Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA. We wish to thank the doctors and nurses at Troy Hospital for the wonderful care given to Mom this past week. God Bless you all!
