Richard “Rich” J. Thoman, 52, of Towanda, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Towanda Memorial Hospital. He was born on July 1, 1964 in Pompton Plains, NJ, the son of Emil and Carol A. (Hunter) Thoman. Rich was employed with Rynone’s in Sayre, PA for 26 years. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially on Seneca Lake at his parents cottage. He enjoyed boating and all types of water sports. His children were his pride and joy and never missed their sporting events. When the girls participated in competitions, he was always present. He enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden, woodworking, and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a member of the Valley RC Flying Club. Rich is survived by the love of his life, Penny Burnett Thoman of Towanda, PA, loving children, Aaron Roberts of Danville, PA, Alexander (Sarah Whitney) Roberts of Owego, NY, Abigail and Allison Thoman, both still at home, and granddaughter Hayden Roberts. He also leaves behind his beloved parents, Emil and Carol Thoman of Sayre, PA, his sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Al Fuller of Sayre, PA, niece, Nicole Fuller of Athens, PA, nephew, Jeff Fuller of Athens, PA, best friend and cousin, Bill Hunter, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and his faithful dachshund, Gretchen. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Family and friends may call on Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 6pm – 8pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 10, 2017 at 11am at the funeral home with the Rev. Dave Larsen officiating. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery.
