Maria K. Worden, 73, of Athens, PA, passed away Monday, March 27, 2017 at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre. She was born on October 28, 1943, in Sayre, PA, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Anna Raupers Worden. Maria retired after 39 years as a Registered Nurse from Robert Packer Hospital. She was a member of the Allentown School of Nursing Alumni Association. She was a former member of the Athens Borough Council, and also served as President of the Council. Maria served on the Board of Trustees for the Spaulding Memorial Library and Penn York Opportunities. She enjoyed traveling in her R.V. and antiquing. She was an avid Penn State and Carolina Panthers fan, and loved spending time with her dogs Cooper and Jessie. She is predeceased by her brother, Tony Worden. Maria is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Angela Worden of New Orleans, LA, longtime companion, Barbara Bean of Athens, PA, brother and sister-in-law, Michael Worden and Judy Moore of Elmira, NY, many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her dogs, Cooper and Jessie. Friends and family may call on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 6pm-8pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 9:30am at the Church of the Epiphany, 304 South Elmer Avenue, Sayre, PA with the Rev. Vincent Langan officiating. Burial will be in the Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
