Obituary of Orlando A. Wood

Orlando A. "Orie" Wood, 59, of Waverly, NY, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, following an extended illness.

Born November 13, 1957, in Sayre, PA, the son of Charles E., Sr. and Shirley P. (Platt) Wood.

Orie worked for various contractors in the area through the years. He was a free spirit doing it his way. He loved being outdoors, especially sitting by bonfires. Orie enjoyed fishing, golfing, races, and watching the New York Giants.

He is predeceased by his mother Shirley P. Young.

Orlando is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Amber and Mark Russell of Newark Valley, NY, daughter, Amanda Shelman-Wood of Waverly, NY, grandchildren, Jakob, Devon, Autum, and Lucas Bell, and William Andrews, father, Charles E. Wood, Sr. of Sayre, PA, brother, Clifford E. Wood and his fiancé, Peggy Murphy of Barton, NY, sister, Deborah Wood of Elmira, NY, brother, Charles Wood, Jr. and his fiancé, Toni Hicks of Milan, PA, sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and Richard Beavers of Waverly, NY, brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Darlene Wood of Elmira, NY, and John and Sue Wood of Elmira, NY, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

At Orie's request, there will be no calling hours or services at this time. The family is being assisted by Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.
