Alan Rosamilia

Obituary of Alan L. Rosamilia

Alan (Al) Louis Rosamilia, age 66, of Sayre, Pa., passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Robert Packer Hospital, after fighting a yearlong, courageous battle with cancer.

There will be a Mass at the Chapel of Holy Family Church, Nutley, N.J., on Tuesday, May 23 at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield, N.J.

Al was born in Newark, N.J., to Peter and Marie Rosamilia on May 25, 1950.

He worked as an optician for 40 years before retiring in May 2015.

He has a wonderful passion for animals, especially dogs, aka "The Dog Whisperer."

He loved sitting on the front porch talking to all the people going by, and always had treats for his dog friends.

Al loved the ocean and going to the Jersey shore.

He could always be seen washing and waxing his Lincoln (his baby). It seemed like every few days and he was always being kidded about that.

Al treated everyone with love and kindness, and could always make them laugh.

Al is survived by his longtime partner, Nina, of Sayre; his son Peter and daughter Marie of New Jersey; brother Victor and sister-in-law Joan of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; and numerous friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father Peter, and mother Marie Bergamo Rosamilia.

The family wishes to thank Robert Packer Hospital, the many doctors and nurses for the wonderful care he received, especially Dr. Vandermeer and Dr. Mwesige. We also wish to thank Lisa Jarvis for all her help this past year and the hospice nurses, especially Donnie, for their caring and compassion.

Al will always be loved.

Rest in peace, Al, you surely will be missed.
