Obituary of Parker Joseph Shannon

Parker Joe Shannon, 84, of Milan, PA passed away Saturday May 27, 2017 at home.

He was born December 5, 1932 in Queens, NY the son of the late Parker M. and Ellen McCarthy Shannon.

In Joe’s younger years, he played football for the Waverly Wolverines. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean war. After getting out of the Air Force, Joe lived in Alaska for over 25 years working at Ft. Richardson in engineering and housing division as a sheet metal worker. Joe also enjoyed fishing.

Joe is predeceased by a sister Madelyn Shannon Chrisman.

He is survived by a brother Bob Shannon of Clinton, MD, a sister Carolyn Best of Germantown, MD and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and family may call Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00PM at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. 225 S. Main St., Athens, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 1, 2017 at St. James Catholic Church, 503 Clark Street, Waverly, NY.

Burial will be in the Tioga Point Cemetery.
