Obituary of Sherry A. Chandler

Sherry A. Chandler, of Athens, PA, passed away unexpectedly at Robert Packer Hospital on June 14, 2017 following a brief illness.
She was born on May 3, 1967 in Connellsville, PA, the daughter of Roy and Betty Burkett Layman.
Sherry was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved cooking and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren that she adored.  She was currently employed with Midwestern Pet Food, Waverly NY, and was a member of the Crooked River Co-Op.  She enjoyed going to flea markets, auctions, and antiquing. Sherry also enjoyed playing bingo, camping, and fishing. Sherry was a 9 year survivor of breast cancer.
She was predeceased in death by her father, Roy Layman, maternal grandparents Jesse and Pearl Burkett, and paternal grandparents Edith and Gilbert Layman.
Sherry is survived by her husband of 16 years, Donald “Donnie” Chandler at home, daughter and son-in-law Jessica and Jason Hill of Lancaster, OH, son Eric Shal at home, son David Chandler of Milan, PA, grandchildren Brandon Chandler, Evelyn Hill, Candice Seeley, Alexis Landmesser, and Joshua Hill, mother Betty Burkett Layman, mother-in-law and father-in-law David and Clarice Chandler, sister and brother-in-law Betty-Lynn and Kenny Huffline,  brother and sister-in-law Gilbert and Brandi Layman, nephew Andrew Huffline, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Mark and Jen Chandler and Bryan and Angie Chandler, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Daisy and Matt VanWhy, several aunts and uncles, and loyal companions Smoke and Cami.
Friends and family may call on Sunday, June 18, 2017 from 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. at the Athens Township Volunteer Fire Company Fire Hall, 211 Herrick Ave., Sayre, PA.  A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 4 p.m. at the Fire Hall with a member of the family, the Reverend Joyce Hill officiating. To honor Sherry’s memory, the family requests that clothing be casual and that pink or blue be worn, her favorite colors.
Burial will be in Rogers Mill Cemetery at the convenience of the family. 
Memorial donations may be made in Sherry’s memory to the Nancy Quattrini Breast Cancer Fund, One Guthrie Square, Sayre, PA 18840 or to East Smithfield Animal Care Sanctuary, 353 Sanctuary Hill Lane, East Smithfield, PA 18817.
