Betty L. Johnston, 85, of Sayre, PA, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the Robert Packer Hospital following a brief illness. She was born on June 23, 1932 in Athens, PA, the daughter of the late Earl E. and Hazel M. (Vosburg) Lantz. Betty was a member of the Waverly American Legion Post 492 Ladies Auxiliary and the VFW Skiff-Bower Post 1536 Ladies Auxiliary. She worked alongside her husband Ed for many years doing merchandising in different stores around the valley, and owned Betty's Tropical Fish Store. Betty enjoyed crocheting, and loved her swimming pool and her flower garden. She is predeceased by her husband Edward in 2016, daughter Sandy Henry, sisters Dorothy Newland, Coila Newland, and Thelma Irwin, brothers Donald Lantz and Edward Lantz, and grandson David Maher. Betty is survived by children Patricia (Pat) and James Post of Towanda, PA, Ronald (Mike) and Holly Johnston of Orlando, FL, James and Debbie Johnston of Sayre, PA, Candice (Candy) and Roger Maher of Waverly, NY, Daniel Johnston of Sayre, PA, John and Terry Johnston of Athens, PA, grandchildren Denise (Ralph) Grimes, Jimmy Post (Kristy Cook), Kathy (David) Tuttle, Jason (Jolenia) Henry, Jeremy (Cheryl) Johnston, Adam Johnston, Christopher (Melissa) Johnston, Jessica (Jeffery) Guiles, Corey (Jessica) Maher, Mariah Hall (George Middaugh), Edward (Mary) Johnston, Zack Johnston, great-grandchildren Seth, Justen, Ryan, Morgan, Mikayla, Kristy, Kaitlynn, Jayce, Jacob, Tanner, Gavin, Maddie, Aiden, Isabella, Kylie, Christoper, Jr., Kendal, Jasmine, Jade, Jeffery, Keenan, great-great-grandchildren Khole and Carter, sister JoAnn Young of Nevada, OH, brother and sister-in-law Chuck and Mary Lantz of Nevada, Ohio, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family may call on Friday, August 4, 2017 from 10 am to 12 pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Memorial Services will follow at 12 pm at the funeral home with the Rev. Linda L. Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery in Athens, PA.
