Obituary of Virginia Maxine Pruyne

Virginia M. “Maxine” Pruyne, 94, of Athens, PA, passed away with her loved ones by her side on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at the Sayre Health Care Center.
She was born on July 24, 1923 in Sayre, PA, the daughter of the late Bert and Ella (Jennings) Schoonover.
Maxine worked as an Administrative Assistant to the principal of Athens High School, prior to her retirement. She was a Lifetime Member of the Sayre Christian Church, and was a member of the choir. Maxine loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed reading.
She is predeceased by her husband, Charles K. Pruyne in 1979, brother Verne Schoonover and his wife Mary, brother Kenneth Schoonover, and special friend, Jay Lowery.
Maxine is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Terri Pruyne and Thomas and Lori Pruyne, grandchildren Derek Pruyne, Lauren Pruyne, Eric Pruyne, Jennica Pruyne, and Mandy Spearing, sister-in-law, Marjorie Schoonover, and several nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 2pm at Tioga Point Cemetery, 803 North Main Street, Athens, PA with Rev. James Donahoo officiating.
Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
