Obituary of Harold D. Schrader

Harold D. “Butch” Schrader, 71, of Sayre, PA passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2017, following an extended illness.

He was born on June 29, 1946 in Sayre, PA, the son of Carl and Doris Learn Schrader.

Butch worked for State Line Auto Auction in the Finance Department. He loved music and was a self-taught organ player, having worked at the Roller Rink and enjoyed the organ music that was played when everyone was skating. Butch enjoyed all of kinds of music, and loved the music of Judy Garland and Dianna Ross. He was an avid TV watcher, and was a big fan of Hogan’s Heroes, Big Brother, Amazing Race, and Survivor. He enjoyed visiting all the carrousels at amusement parks, especially those at Eldridge Park. He also liked gardening and growing his own vegetables. He loved the holidays, baking and doing projects with his children and grandchildren. 

He is predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth “Liz” Schrader on April 6, 2017, father, Carl Schrader, and his grandmother, Genevieve Schrader.

Butch is survived by his children, Scott and Valerie Schrader of Towanda, PA, Melissa and Matthew Sklarkowski of Waverly, NY, and Melanie Schrader and Garrett Douglas of Sayre, PA, grandchildren, Brett Schrader, Lizzie Bennett, Scott Schrader, Jr., Dorien Padgett, Adrianna Bennici, Rylee Grace Schrader, Zander Sklarkowski, Aidric  Sklarkowski, and Jayden Schrader, mother, Doris Nichols of Litchfield, PA,  brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Nancy Schrader of Sayre, PA, sisters, Judy Bolt (Joe)  of Forks, WA, Barb Schrader Dowd of Waverly, NY, sister and brother-in-law, Lisa (Robert) Johnson of Athens, PA, Gloria (John) Douglas of Litchfield, PA, sister, Bonnie Nichols of Athens, PA, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family and friends may call on September 1, 2017 from 5pm-8pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 10am at Tioga Point Cemetery, 803 North Main Street, Athens, PA.

Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
