Obituary of Joyce C. Turnipseed

Joyce Celesta Turnipseed, 89, loving mother, grandmother and sister went to be with the Lord on August 15, 2017.

She was born on November 11, 1927, in Athens, PA, to the late Raymond Russell and Celeste Wells Russell.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard Davis Turnipseed; parents; and brother, Raymond Avery Russell.

Joyce is survived by her children, Richard R. Turnipseed, Celestia A. Young (Jon), and Raymond D. Turnipseed (Lisa); sisters, Shirley Griswold, Marcella Brown (Norman), Barbara Muffley; grandchildren, Charles Mack (Jennifer), Eric Mack, Megan Turnipseed, and Alex Turnipseed; four great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The family would like to thank Judy Rodes for her Christian love and the attention that she gave Joyce during her final years with us and to Eric Mack for your special care of your grandmother in her final days.

Joyce was a member of the Methodist Church for over fifty years. She was an account manager in her husband's construction business while living in Hialeah, FL. The family moved to Marion County in 1973. She worked for Foxfire Realty for numerous years in Advertising.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 from 12pm – 1pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at the funeral home with the Rev. Larry Mather officiating. A celebration of life was held for family and friends in FL.

Joyce will be laid to rest beside her husband in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lakeside Church (lakesideislove.com) or your Methodist Church of choice.
